Meet Shane, AFH Alumnus and Owner of Elements Event Design and Production! |
A successful event is like a well-oiled robot: a lot of parts are needed to make it dance! From arranging lighting designs, organizing color schemes and accents, choosing the entertainment, and crafting the perfect menu from the many creative caterers who generously provide the delectable—the GPOE is certainly not a one-person job. But with so many robots in the kitchen, how does one manage it all without combusting? Shane Hassey, AFH program alumnus and former AFH Events Manager, recently embarked on his newest adventure: owning his own event design and production company. His mission is to take all of the vital, but often disparate, elements and bring them together for one seamless event! Appropriately called Elements Event Design and Production, which launched in 2011, Hassey’s full-service design company provides creativity, production, and management for events ranging from weddings, to corporate functions, to non-profit galas.
Hassey’s creativity was first tested in AFH’s painting studio when he was 15 years old. After two years as a youth artist, moving on to the photography studio and assisting with the architectural design of the AFH EpiCenter, he was hired as AFH’s office manager and event assistant, and booked the very first celebrations held in the new space. When the Events Manager position opened up, he jumped at the chance to learn all aspects of event planning and design.
Not only did he find his passion at AFH, but also his love: later this year, Hassey will marry his long time sweetheart, whom he met at AFH while working in the studio!
Check out these pics showing how Hassey transformed our Lewis Gallery for our 20th Anniversary “Have a Seat” Gala, and be sure to congratulate him on his new business and future wife this year at the Greatest Party on Earth!
