AFH's seven week, five days Summer Jobs Program began on Monday, July 9th, when 139 teens (the biggest group in our 20 year history!) met in the Lewis Gallery. After an introduction to all the mentors and staff, the excited teen-artists split up and headed to their studios—painting, sculpture, photography, graphic design and motion graphics, web design, videography, and screen printing—to get down to business!
But, as we all know, all work and no play makes a grumpy artist, so back by popular demand is LIVE: AFTER-HOURS! Starting tonight, and continuing every Thursday throughout the summer program, AFH will be hosting a night of games, fun, food, music, and dancing from 6-8pm, open to all our teen-artists!
The ping- pong table is making a come-back, and to spice things up this summer, LIVE: AFTER-HOURS is adding some awesome new activities. The third floor painting studio will be transformed into a chill spot for personal painting projects, as well as video game tournaments, and breakdancing. We are also thrilled to welcome the fantastic dance-trainer/fitness guru Lauren Hefez to teach Zumba in the Gallery! Check out her incredible videos here and get psyched for tonight!
Meet Lauren! Our LIVE: AFTER-HOURS Zumba Instructor!

Lauren's in there..leading some city-street Zumba!
And, with special thanks to Gourmet Caterers, delicious sandwiches, salads, and treats will bring smiles and restore all the energy spent on Zumba-ing and ping-pong-ing!
But Thursdays aren't the only fun night here...Kristina will be back in the Gallery on Tuesday nights teaching a FREE hour of yoga from 6-7pm! Open to all!
Summer 2012 is off to a great start. Teen artists will be creating in
studio, working for clients but also exploring beyond the EpiCenter,
on land and sea! Stay tuned to see how they are doing and why
there is always a waiting list to work at AFH!
