AFH Gears Up With NEW LIVE: After-Hours Workshop!

A beautiful custom Saila Bike

August dawns and AFH is half-way through our intensive 7-week Summer Jobs program!  Our largest group of summer employees (146!) in our 20 years have been busy! We’ve explored Islands, made new friends, reunited with old friends, and created some amazing pieces for clients. We’ve also tried new things, like Zumba during our super-fun weekly Thursday LIVE: After-Hours night in the Gallery!

But it's not over yet! There are three more weeks of AFH art-making, designing and After-Hours adventure-ing to enjoy. Next Thursday, August 9th, we welcome two new guests to the EpiCenter: Lauren Trout, owner of Saila Bikes, a custom frame building company, and Richard DeFrancisco, owner of Cantabrigian Mechanics, the custom fabrication company that produces  Commonwealth Cycles. These two master-craftsmen will show our teens how to fix flats and perform other vital repairs to their beloved road bikes. They will also share stories about what it’s like to own and run a bike fabrication business in Boston, and how it feels to be responsible for creating such a cool vehicle: from design to fabrication, to fully-functioning and expertly crafted bicycles!

Meet Lauren Trout! Bike-maker/lover who will be showing our teens how to repair their bikes!

Meet Ricky DeFrancisco! Another bike-maker extraordinaire who will be co-leading the workshop this thursday!

Safety first!

Check out all our awesome teens with their new bikes, thanks to the Boston Bikes!
